Card Carrying Democrat - Close Adviser To Bill Clinton And Barack Obama Moderates Republican Debates?

Yes, indeed.  The natives are restless.

As I’ve mentioned a time or two, I have very little interest in watching the made-for-TV debates (all 73 of them to date) for a couple of very good reasons.  Doug Ross @Director Blue, popped his cork this morning and unloaded on the entire “set up”.  One of my serious evaluations is included in his post.

“So the chief political operative for a disgraced, impeached ex-president is the right guy to moderate a Republican debate?

And with America's debt surpassing 100% of GDP -- which makes us, officially, a debtor nation; with Iran threatening to close the Strait of Hormuz; with China gearing up for war; with Islamists rising throughout the Middle East; with rating agencies threatening to further downgrade the United States; George Stephanapolous wants to discuss banning contraception? Really?”

Dell’s Bottom Line:

George Stephanapolous - Card Carrying Democrat.  Close advisor to Bill Clinton and Barack Obama moderates Republican debates?

Yup!  The man who was as close to President Bill Clinton as one could get.  The man who gets immediate call backs from President Barack Obama.  One of the chosen few invited to the White House for partisan political instructions on his re-election campaign.  The man who gets a personal audience with King Obama ANY time his heart desires, is constantly selected to be a moderator of Republican debates?

No partisanship displayed there.  None what so ever.  And Doug’s point above is my primary reason for having little to no interest in what takes place at these events.

Serious, timely questions aren’t asked because most of them would revolve around Barack Obama’s failures on the economy, foreign policy, unemployment/jobs, the federal deficit, the military, budget and managements issues, unconstitutional recess appointments made when no recess exists, etc., etc.  The man who’s all warm and cuddly with Barack Obama isn’t going to ask a question that causes it to rain down criticism on his parties candidate, it’s as simple as that.

Those are the important issues.  And that’s what I want to hear the candidates talk about.  Sadly, no such questions are asked, answered or even brought up.

And what’s up with Diane Sawyer?  She looks, acts and speaks as though she’s on a bad trip or is a .014% BAC.  One more cocktail and she’d  be a totally slobbering drunk.  And I’m not the first, or only, writer to make that observation.  Sawyer’s comportment during each of her appearances has drawn considerable negative commentary from a number of other media outlets.

Could this issue be corrected?  How?

The candidates, backed by the Republican National Committee, could put a stop to it instantly by simply declaring “we won’t appear at any debates that are moderated by biased, partisan hacks such as George Stephanapolous and seemingly intoxicated blubbering idiots like Diane Sawyer”.  There are a number of independent journalists and writers out there who would focus keenly on the issues that are most important TODAY - right now - not the candidates views on twenty years ago, but right now.

This, of course, will not happen.  It’s made for tv ratings and the candidates want every minute of free television air time as they can get, so they reluctantly go along.  They shouldn’t.

Now back to your regularly scheduled playoff/bowl game.
